The British duo’s studio Raw Edges for Dilmos have developed their idea of Bench 10. With Plaid bench they assemble different colored bench, classroom bench, picnic bench, street bench, nursery bench in order to achieve a  plaid check patterns. Clip Chair produced by De Vorm 2011

Voici un designer et une maison d’édition à suivre… Le jeune designer allemand Sebastian Herkner a été récompensé cette année du Designpreis Deutschland dans la catégorie Newcomer Award 2011 et a été nommé directeur artistique de la jeune maison d’édition Hollandaise De Vorm. Il est à Milan où il présente de nouvelles pièces; Ander et Bask pour le studio Sebastian Herkner au Salone Satellite 2011, hall 22-24, booth E15 ainsi qu’au Design Deutschland 2011  Zona Tortona, Via Tortona 32,  et enfin les chaises Clip pour De Vorm à Ventura Lambrate _ Via Massimiano 23. Le Salone Internazionale del Mobile fête ses 50 ans avec des chiffres de visites, de lancements qui vont battre tous les records. Je posterai ici quelques coeurs de coeur, commençons avec Artek qui lance à Milan demain une nouvelle collection de luminaires, White, par le directeur du design d’Artek Ville Kokkonen. Milan’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile celebrates its 50th anniversary and it will a week of records, events, launches. I will post some of my favorites. Let’s start with Artek which launches tomorrow a new lighting collection, White, by the design director of Artek, Ville Kokkonen. L’info est arrivée aujourd’hui et c’est une très bonne nouvelle. SAFI, filiale de la chambre syndicale des Ateliers d’Art de France et de Reed Expositions France qui organise notamment Maison&Objet, lancera la première Paris Design Week du 12 au 18 septembre 2011. Au coeur de Paris, éditeurs, galeries d’art, institutions, restaurants programeront projets, lancements, expositions… Enfin ! Je vous tiendrais au courant ici des futurs évènements.

The news came today and it’s a very good one. SAFI, a subsidiary of the Chambre Syndicale des Ateliers d’Art de France, Reed Exhibitions France and organizer of Maison&Objet will launch the first Paris Design Week September 12th – 18th, 2011. At the center of Paris, brand, designers, art galleries, institutions, restaurant will program launches, exhibitions... I will keep you informed.

Le Design Museum à Londres attribue chaque année leur prix du design, le Brit Insurance Design of the Year Award a été attribué pour 2011, la semaine dernière, à Plumen 001 une originale ampoule à basse consommation, de Samuel Wilkinson pour la société Hulger vous trouverez toutes les informations ici. Je voulais vous montrer aujourd’hui la fabrication, en video, de cette magnifique chaise en bois, la Branca, qui dans la catégorie mobilier à remporté le prix pour 2011. Kim Colin et Sam Hecht d’Industrial Facility l’ont conçu pour la manufacture Mattiazzi inspirée par les brindilles et branches des arbres. At the awards ceremony last week at the Design Museum of London, British designer Samuel Wilkinson and product design company Hulger, were announced as the overall winner of the Brit Insurance Design of the Year 2011 for their stunning low energy lightbulb Plumen 001. You will find more information here. I would like to show you today a video, the making of the chair who win the Brit Insurance Furniture Award 2011 the Branca chair by Industrial facility, Sam Hecht and Kim Colin, manufactured by Mattiazi. It’s inspired by the natural growth patterns of twigs and branches of trees. Branca by Juriaan Booij, hope you will enjoy this beautiful video.

The price of design: I woulk like to start this new topic for a few weeks or more if you are interested; we all like the furnitures, pieces from designers or upcoming designers in limited edition or not but sometime we really don’t know the price of these pieces or where to find them,

So let start right now our research with this new collection in limited edition designed by Aldo Bakker for Thomas Eyck. “The copper collection” consists of different objects based on the contemporary handwriting of Bakker. This fresh and innovative approach to very old and new techniques of production like moulding, galvanising and lacquering has resulted in an astonishing collection comprising a stool, watering can, soy pourer, candleholders, mixing bowl, and saucepan. Connaissez vous ce magazine de design espagnol, que j’ai découvert en Espagne il y a quelques mois Pasajes Diseño? Au sommaire de ce grand format distribué seulement dans la péninsule ibérique depuis presque 4 ans, des articles entres autres sur l’architecture, sur de jeune maison d’édition de design, des portraits de jeunes designers et autres infos espagnoles et internationales. Je regrette juste qu’il ne soit pas traduit en anglais pour m’y abonner! Mais ils ont un blog a découvrir sans modération où vous pouvez utiliser google translation si comme moi vous n’y comprenez pas un mot. Avec Apartamento une certaine presse bouge dans ce pays et c’est une bonne nouvelle!

Do you know this Spanish design magazine, I discovered it few month ago in Spain Pasajes Diseño? In summary of this large magazine, only distributed in the Iberian Peninsula for almost 4 years, among others you will find, articles on architecture, on young design manufacturers, portraits of young designers and other Spanish and international news. I just regret it wasn’t translated into English to subscribe me! But fortunately they have a blog to read without moderation and if you need a translation like me, well you can try our friend Google translation. With Apartamento it happens something different in this country in the world of  magazine publishing and this is a good news!

Vous avez jusqu’au 19 mars encore pour découvrir « Matières à réflexions » à la Galerie Kreo. L’exposition regroupe les toutes dernières créations de Fernando et Humberto Campana, Pierre Charpin, Olivier Gagnère, Hella Jongerius et Martin Szekely pour la galerie. Des pièces inédites en édition limitées et numérotées, toutes « hors normes » comme l’explique la présentation parce qu’elles ont été produites « hors collection, hors exposition » dans des matériaux originaux comme le carbone, la porcelaine, les plumes, la laque.

En voici quelques exemples; la table basse « Escargot », 2010 Collection natura design magistra de Hella Jongerius, en chêne brossé blanchi. Escargot en porcelaine émaillée et non émaillée, réalisée par la Manufacture Bernardaud. Frozen Lantern, 2010 Collection Frozen in time du Studio Wieki Somers. Lampe sur pied en toile/filet de tissu, résine, métal, bois de canne à pêche et UV top coat. Bibliothèque murale, 2001 de Maarten Van Severen enaluminium poncé et laqué. Miroir « Fata Morgana », 2010 de Fernando & Humberto Campana en aluminium poli brillant vernis.

You have until March 19 th to discover « Matières à réflexions » at the Galerie Kréo. This exhibition gathers the very last pieces by Fernando and Humberto Campana, Pierre Charpin, Olivier Gagnère, Hella Jongerius and Martin Szekely for the galery. In limited edtion, according to the presentation, the pieces are all « off the tracks » .They have been produced outside of any collection or exhibition, in unsual materials such as carbon fiber, porcelain, feathers, lacquer.

Here are some examples: « Snail » Coffee table, 2010 Collection natura design magistra by Hella Jongerius in bleached oak brushed. Snail in enameled and unglazed porcelain, realized by the Manufacture Bernardaud. Frozen Lantern, 2010 Frozen in time collection by Studio Wieki Somers, standing lamp in net of fabric, resin, metal, fishing rod wood and UV top coat. Wall Storage Bookcase 2001 by Maarten Van Severen, sanded and lacquered aluminum. « Fata Morgana » Mirror, 2010 by Fernando and Humberto Campana, brilliant polished and varnished aluminum.
